What is Blab? | ||||||
Model Horse Blab was started in September of 2003, and today has several hundred active members. Blab is run on the principle of the honest expression of opinions, while respecting others, and with the least possible moderator intervention. And to have fun talking about our mutual obsession! See below to learn more about the benefits of joining Blab.
Guest Participants | ||||||
Guests have very
limited privileges on Blab. For example, they cannot:
To register, you will need to specify a username and password, and a valid email address. Entering your email address will not subject you to 'spam', as you can choose to hide your address, and messages sent to you do not reveal your address in any case. A valid email address is necessary to enable final approval of your membership. |
||||||
Initial Membership Registration
Go to the Registration
initialization page and follow the directions from there.
After completing the registration information prompts,
you will receive an email from Blab verifying your email
address. Follow the instructions in that email, and the
next step can begin. Within a few hours after you have
completed the instruction in the initial email, you will
receive another email asking a question. Please reply to
that email with the answer. Within 24 hours of your
reply, your membership will be approved. After your
membership is approved, you can view and post in all
forums accessible to free members. If you haven't
received contact from us, be sure and check your spam
folder. Alternatively once you've replied to the initial email,
send an email to subscriptions@modelhorseblab.com to expedite
membership approval.

Renewing Expiring Memberships
For Registered (Free)
Members, the basic membership never expires. Paid
Participants owe $18 per year from the last payment date.
Paid Participants with Student 18 & Under Memberships
owe $10 per year from the last payment date. Most members can check their subscription expiration in their My Panel. Select User CP from the menu bar across the top of the forums. See the left side selections and scroll down to Paid Subscriptions. Most members will see their sub end date, and have the option to step through the renewal process if they want to renew through Paypal. Some members will receive an email (check your spam folder!) with their sub end date and an explanation of how to renew. If your payment is not received by the due date and time, your membership automatically becomes a "Regular (Free) Membership." If you decide to pay later, it may be a few hours after before your paid membership is back to "normal," but it will return. After youve paid, your renewal date may not reset until overnight. If it has not updated within 24 hrs, email Mary. If you choose to renew early, your next due date will be one year from the current expiration date (not the early payment date.) For example, if your expiration is June 1, and you pay for your renewal on May 15, your next expiration date will be June 1 next year. See "Making Payments for Memberships" below. |

Online Payments for New
Paid Participants: Payment is accepted via multiple
formats. PayPal users can pay via their My Panel, in the left
column menu down the left hand side.
Near the bottom of that menu, under
"Miscellaneous," there is a link that says
"Paid Participant." Click on that, and select
the Regular or Student rate (only high school students
and younger for the student rate). Online Renewals of Paid Memberships: From the selections above, find the "Miscellaneous" box and click on "Paid Subscription." If you want to pay through Paypal the selections will walk you through the process. Snail Mail Payments: If you are snail-mailing payment, PLEASE be sure to include your username on all payment/correspondence. And, PM Mary and let her know your payment is in the mail. Youll get access right away, and will keep it as long as payment is received within 7 days of your notice. Snail-mail payments can be made at: Modelhorseblab.com |

Cancellation of Memberships Generally
Blab doesn't 'cancel' or 'delete' an account in a way that will remove posts or threads. Members have the option to cancel access to their account so that it can't be used. But their posting history will not be deleted to preserve continuity in threads. If a member wishes to have her access to Blab blocked, this can be done on request. The account won't be deleted; it just won't be accessible through user login. Access can be restored on request. Email Mary.
Cancelling a Free, Unpaid Membership
The first option is for a member to simply choose not to visit Blab. The member retains all their access rights if they ever decide to return. If for any reason a member would like to have their access rights removed, so they do not have the option to log in to Blab, please contact a moderator. This is simply a matter of resetting the password to something the member doesn't know. If a member later wishes to re-activate their account they can PM or email again, and Mary can reset the password and share it with the member.
Cancelling a Paid Membership
A paid membership may be cancelled for a 100% refund for 3 months after the starting or renewal date. A paid membership may be cancelled for a refund of the pro-rated amount between 3 and 9 months after the starting or renewal date (or an amount close to the pro-rated amount to be determined by Blab management.) Ater 9 months from the starting or renewal date, refunds will not be given. A member who cancels a paid membership may reinstate their paid status at any time by paying for a full year's membership in the normal way. A new one-year membership will start from the payment date. A member may not cancel a paid membership a second time for 18 months from the first cancellation. For example: A member renews on Feb. 1, then asks for a refund on April 1, then pays for a new membership on July 1. Blab will not honor a second request for a refund until 18 months after the original cancellation request on April 1. Cancellation requests may be emailed to subscriptions@modelhorseblab.com. |
