I am going for the main reason to look for an apartment, place for the horse and my husbands has soem interviews for his job or we wouldnt be going.
I love breyer and the first time i went to BF I was so............. excited until I goth there and was like this is it? Maybe its just me being in a cranky mood right now or something. Sorry dont want to make anyone mad at me so ill stop. :)

I'm bummed the dinner went away, too. Maybe they got tired of people always complaining about the food? I thought it was decent enough for a mass catered meal, but I'm still used to high school/college cafeteria food so maybe I have lower standards.
The first time I went to Bfest, I loved doing all the horse park things. Now I enjoy the HIN shopping (err, on my budget, browsing) the best! :haha I guess Breyerfest itself doesn't offer much for me; it's more like a chance to meet fellow hobbiests. I look at it as paying to attend a convention/conference.

They had been doing a contest in addition to other stuff. Last year, since the theme was Spanish, the theme for the contest was 'Make Your Own Maracas'. You were able to design and make a pair of maracas however you liked and they were judged in different age groups. I used two classic Wal-mart mustangs(chestnut medicine hat pinto Mesteno and grulla pinto Ginger), painted them to be 'Day'(mesteno) and 'Night'(ginger), drilled holes in their bellies, threw in some seed beads, and superglued them on sticks. The prizes were these pretty dun Galiceno models. Previous contests were Hats and T-shirts. I thought I heard somewhere that the contest this year was going to be scepters?

The year before it was decorate (spelling) a 60's shirt and the prize was a gold charm western horse.

a sceptre is like a magic wand :haha it's that fancy thing the king or queen carries all encrusted with jewels and such...and I dunno if that's how you spell it but I think it is...

From Breyer's site:
Our Design a Scepter Contest will be from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
A royal fixture in the Middle Ages, a scepter is a baton used as a ceremonial emblem of authority. Put your creative skills to work and enter our scepter design contest and win a great prize! The contest will be divided into three age groups: 13 and younger, 14 - 19, and 20 and older. Rules: Scepters must be no bigger than 18" long. Note that your entry must be displayed on a table for judging.

Every time I hear the word, it just reminds me of the simpson's eposide "Lisa the beauty queen" - Amber holding the scepter up in the air which acts as a lightening rod and electrocutes her, thus making Lisa "Little Miss Springfield" :haha

Kate, why are you moving to Lexington if you don't mind me asking. I so envy you.... My husband went to grad school at UK and I lived there for a few months before we were married. I miss it so. We were just through there in January- still have a few friends in the area- but we usually don't have time to see them as we are just passing through. Our county fair is BF weekend so I have lots to do here and haven't made the time to go yet. Maybe some day when I am old and gray oh wait that is now those gray hairs are peeking through

No I dont mind!
We have been there 2X and both agree we like it there. I love the fact that there are horses everywhere. Its more affordable for us. We live in Jersy right now. We have been married for 2 years and fight a lot because we live in the upstairs of my parents in two small rooms that were made into one big room. Its not a big house and my brother is back home. Long story.
We want to get an apartment or something of our own but just can not afford it here. We look ing PA and upsate NY but there is no work for my husband.
In Kentucky I can trasfer with my bank ( to work with better people) and he has found lot of people that would pay him about the same and the apartments and houses are much cheaper.
We need to get out of the freakin Jersy with the high taxes. Just a few years ago it was all farms around me and now there are so many houses right on top of each other. Its so sad!
So far from what we have seen in Kentucky and the people we have talked to (that are all super nice) we both like it. We shall see. Hes got some inter views when we go and we are going to look at apartments and stuff.
The only thing I am nervouse about i my horse! Hes my baby and Im nevouse about moving him. He getts so stressed ut over such dumb little things. I blame that on his past.
