How do you prime/varnish/seal or otherwise spray a substance onto a model without missing a spot where you hold it? Or is the trick not to hold it.. ?
Unfortunately, due to restriction in space/work area/trying not to damage dining tables etc, I have to hold the model and spray out a window or the front door.. Needless to say the back hind leg is currently semi-paintless.. I will turn it into a white marking but how is it generally "done" when spraying.. ?

well you could always wait until the primer/sealant is dry, and then hold it by the head to get the feet. I have a garage and I spray on a ladder. That works well for me. :lol

A lot of times I spray the head and neck , let it dry good and then do the feet, let that dry good and then I hold it by one leg and spray the horse again.

I always hold the horse by the tail, and then spray the body, about an hour later (after it's dry) I spray the tail, and then I paint. If it's cold outside, or raining, I bring the horse indoors to dry, but generally I do it all outside on my porch.

I usually will spray the front half first (holding on to a rear leg or the tail), let it dry, then come back and spray the back half (holding on to the head or a front leg).

You can also cut out the top and one side out of a good sized box and make that you "spraying station". Then you don't have to hold it, you can do one side at a time, and you won't get paint everywhere. Defiinitely good for your health to spray outside...those fumes are not good for you! :action-sm

Like everyone else... I rotate where I hold the horse... That way I can be sure that I get every inch of it. :) the only thing that makes it hard is the waiting time between coats. :)

I've used a "spraying station" before and I made the mistake of spraying down in the basement. My house smelled for at least a day and we were able to open the windows!!! http://www.modelhorseblab.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif Definitely, spray outside!!!

I would put my model on a table outside and spray it all around and underneath...then let it dry...then get the rest of it by putting it on its side.
