Sorry I am not among us here. My shepherd went after one of my Shelties and he has been in serious condition at Tufts. This happened Wednesday. Please I am very sorry but have been crazy with this. Thanks for understanding.

:hugg :hugg I hope all goes well with your little sheltie, Erin.

Thanks, guys... these good thoughts mean a lot to me. I was sure we would be putting him down today but the vet says he is doing better. It is my oldest and smallest sheltie, Deuce. Vega never liked him but I have no idea what set her off. I was not home when this happened. My husband was. Just horrible. He is still at Tufts and my guess is he will be there until Tuesday at least.... he still has injuries which have not been addressed yet due to swelling, etc. Will check in as I can. Thanks, again.... :hugg

Today Deuce looked better. Well he still looks like heck, but much better. He no longer has the big bandage on his head. He has three drainage tubes in his head/face and a more permanent feeding tube put in place. His head gash must have been very large as the sutures appear to cover his entire head between his ears. But his swelling looks better and he was more "with it". He was bummed when we left. This was the first time he had wagged his tail too. He looked ready to leave w us and the doctor said that was a good sign. So he is still not tolerating food very well. As soon as they can get him more stable w the feeding (using the feeding tube) and make sure he is on the right medications (2 antibiotics and 2 pain medications) given through he feeding tube, he can come home. So maybe a day or two. His drainage tubes might be out by Thursday too which would be great. Ben has been setting up an x pen w some carpeting and bedding in it. It will be a nice, soft place for Deuce to convalesce.

Thanks, again for your kind thoughts.

Glad he is doing better. Hope for a quick recovery. Will you be able to keep the two dogs apart one he is home? Any clue on what set her off? Thinking of you and hoping for the best for Deuce and Vega

People have been asking me how he is doing so I figure better to give a group update.

He has been home a couple of days and is doing very well. He goes back to Tufts tomorrow to have all his drains removed. Not sure how that is done nor where the drainage will go after they remove them but the drainage seems healthy from the little I know about it… he is alert and wagging his tail when we see him. Also drinking quite a bit of water which I assume is good. Ben is up around the clock giving him all his medicines and warm compresses. It really is a full time job all the stuff Ben needs to do for Deuce. I think Ben has been able to get Deuce to eat his mush food but all his meds go through his feeding tube.

The shelties came into the room to see him yesterday and Deuce did not want them there and charged at them. So we took them out. He is by himself for now w just Ben or I in there. I hope as he gets better he will tolerate the shelties at least. I don't even know about Vega but it's way too soon to tell. The shelties, I assume, did nothing to him. He really has been through so much. He looks horrible but the hair will grow back and he bruises are looking better …. he still has the French braid in his tail which is sort of funny since he looks awful yet they (Tufts) put this pretty little thing in. So nice of them… I guess I will have more to say after the vet visit tomorrow….

thank you for your well wishes…. they mean a lot.

Thank goodness he is home now, among his 'family', whom he knows loves him. :yes I hope he continues to improve, and will be getting along with the shelties, soon.
