I'd be willing to drive up there, but it's on the same day as the Minis show in Black River Falls, WI. Maybe next year if they don't conflict.

I am checking with my hall to change the date. I do not want to compete for entrants with the Black River show, I did not know it was the same weekend. I found out last weekend, but my work hours keep me from making calls during the hours the church office is open. I have it on my to do list for tomorrow morning.

for the people who have already entered, if they cannot make the new show date I will be refunding their money.

Not yet.

I had to contact my judges and stuff first, then call during office hours at the church where I"m holding it. So I haven't completed all of that yet.

It will most likely be changed to either thee 3rd or 4th Saturday in May depending on which is available.

But Mindy, if it is after your vacation you will have more time to make new customs :)

So after several discussions with the show hall, my schedule, and the judges I have so far,

the new date for North Star Live is May 28.

I hope you can all make it

May 28th will work wonderfully :-)! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been to a show since 2006 2007? SO long! Do you have the website updated as to costs and rules and when everything goes on? Is everything going on at once, or are you doing one devision at a time, like OF, Customs, Resins, etc? Or do you have all devisions showing on different tables at different the same time? :-)

yes, yes sort of

if I set it up like last year, I have three show tables. So I had of plastic, China, and AR all start first. Then cm glaze after China and Cm after that.

NAN qualification achieved, and ribbons arrived from Hodges

I know I bought the ribbons, but I opened the box and think "OOOOh Pretty!" and feel like I won them ! :lmao

Woohoo! Very excited to go and try to gather some NAN cards. I just sent in my fees and entry form a couple of days ago so I'm pretty set.

I'm sure that was a nice surprise :lol

I know it's dependent on the day, but around what time would you anticipate the show to be wrapping up for the day? I'm trying to decide whether to get a hotel room for two nights, or head home after the show.

WPDR

I think I was home by 4 or 5 and I stopped at FF on the way home. I live probably 40 minutes from the show.

isalrae

That'd be nice for me to know, as well. I live about 4 hours away and was planning on getting a hotel the day before and then driving back after the show, but if it goes super late then maybe it'd be better to drive back the day after.

Also question, there is no division between regular size and minis in this show right? Didn't seen any on the class list but since I show mostly minis I just wanted to be sure :blueflower

It really moved along pretty quick last year. No minis competed with everyone last year.

Mindy is right so far :)

Mini and all other sizes show together. For any individual class a judge might break out by size if the class is very large.

I am hoping to be done well before 5 pm.

Is there somewhere in the area to grab lunch, or should we plan to bring a lunch with us?

pipperroo
05-18-2016, 11:46 AM
I'm working on that part :)

Last year I had pizza brought in, but my pizza fetcher is going to be out of town.

There is a McDonalds not too far away.

FourWindsFarm

McDonalds would be fine if pizza doesn't pan out. I'll pass it on to my MIL, too. I know she was wondering for my niece. Thanks, and I'm really looking forward to getting away for a day at a show.

I packed up everyone a couple of days ago and just drove down today, at the hotel down the street from the church now. The roads were awful so I'm glad I chose to go a day early. Soo much rain and roadwork!

Just made it back home from the show. Saw tons of traffic on the way but luckily there was none of that today so it was smooth sailing the whole time (other than the rain of course).

I just wanna say I had a total blast and for my first real show, it was an awesome experience! I wish there were more shows around me because I'd love to do it so much more. The show was put together very well and seemed to run seamlessly so thank you so so much to pipperroo and all the judges and volunteers for that.

I didn't get too many good pictures of the show, but here is some pics of my two horses that got reserve champed, plus all my placers. I couldn't believe it! Especially since bringing the saddlebred was sort of an afterthought, I wasn't going to do it at first but I'm so glad I did! Out of my 20 horse show string, 11 placed, so I'm more than satisfied with the results. There were so many absolutely BEAUTIFUL horses there, it was hard to keep myself from drooling.

What tough competition and huge classes! Breyers and Stones were together, so some of the classes were very large, and there were some lovely models. I was happy that my new Trotting Draft received Division Reserve Champion for Collectibility, and that my little Classic Man O' War won Division Champion Sport Horse and Reserve Overall Original Finish Champion. But the best part of the day was that my 8 y.o. niece, at her first show, had a great time and won Overall for the Children's show. She had so much fun!

Yeah, I go to these shows with the goal of seeing eye candy and hopefully getting at least one rosette. I know some people get dozens per show, but their budgets are larger than mine and they have more storage space, shelving, and/or free time to go to shows :-)

Did any one here forget their purple zipper hoodie at the show? One was left behind and I have it.
