Ok, little background - I've been working on this one certain custom for several months and I think I just kept making it worse. So I started to work on it a little bit more the other day, and then again today and suddenly got inspired. I had 2 horses with no neck and I was trying to decide what to do with them, and suddenly just decided to take one of the heads (partially remade Silver) and slap it on the other body (mostly untouched Big Ben). I'd been wanting to do something different with the Ben body, so I took the tail most of the way off, and when I put the Silver head on it, I started to see what I could do.

The story I'm working on for this horse is that it'll be a mare (unsure if I want to make her preggers or not) who has been irritated by flies until finally, she just gets fed up and, ears pinned, tail flicking angrily, she moves one front leg out and bares her teeth to get after this latest itch with gusto.

I have been trying to find good reference pics for a scratching horse, but so far, NOTHING even comes close. I know how awesome people on here are with finding good reference pictures, so I would love it if anyone can toss some pics my way!

Here are my current inprogress pics as of today -

I do still have to lower that raised back leg, so please bear that in mind.

Thanks a ton!!

I see my old Big Ben!!! :D Nice to see he's getting some use outta him ;)

First of all, make sure you don't add veterbrae to the neck, which, if you leave it as is, and shape the epoxy over it, you will. Try to find a pic of a horse just stretching down, and watch how the bottom length of the neck(throatlatch to chest) relates ratio wise to the top (poll to withers). Right now, the top seems REALLY long, giving you the serpentine look ;) You might have to cut down where the withers are - even if you bend you nchin to chest, you can feel the back of your neck pulling your spine forwards and flatter, there shouldn't be a ton of "hump" going on in the topline. The bottom of the neck will have to tie in lower a bit too, so you don't get the wanky angles going on, with horsie not breathing because her trachea doesn't attach to her lungs :D

You may wish to "build" up the back a little - the same as with the neck, when the head goes donw, it pulls the spine "straighter", so there won't be as much of a sway in the back.

For now, I'm sure I'll fine more to attack ya with, but I know ya can take the heat :D :adore

Oooh...I think she's going to be neat when you get done with her.

I looked through my stock of reference photos--I don't have anything for ya.

Oh! yay on the neck/back outline!!

Does anyone know what breed I can make her? I was considering just turning her into a mustang, since Silver's head on a warmblood's body makes for a weird combo.. Any other ideas on breeds?

Arab broodmare? Maybe refine Silver's face a little?

Hmm... Only pic I could find of a kicking/scratching horse- probably doesn't help at all. :lol I couldn't really visualize what you were imagining...

SHE LOOKS AWSOME! she is gunna be soooo cool when she is done! I cant wait to see! I agree with the arab brood mare thing My CM BIg Ben was turned to an arab there is just something about the body of the big ben and the way he is moving that captures the spirit of an arab. and if your work on the head a little bit and mabey to some but not alot of refining on the body or you can just leave it as it is she will turn out GREAT!!
