How long have you been in the hobby? I started collecting in 1975. Started photo showing around 1982? First live show was in 1984, I think. It was either MCAHLS with Pam Young or GLMHA with Cheryl Monroe. I'm geting old, I can't remember!!!

What's the focus of your collecting? Right now, it's shifting to minis. I'm getting priced out of anything bigger, slowly but surely. I would like more chinas--but I don't have a china budget.

Do you show? If so, live, photo, or both? Yes. Mostly live. I have been doing some online showing with the MI group. I haven't photo shown since 2001.

What's your favorite aspect of showing? Going and having a good time. Seeing everyone's horses.

What's your *second* favorite animal? horses. :lol Honestly!! My fave would be cats!!! I have a terrible weakness for kittens. I swear someday, I'll be the little old lady on the corner with 70 cats.

What kind of music do you listen to most? Whatever I'm in the mood for. Right now, I've got Beatles in my husband truck, Crowded House in the car and Blue Rodeo/Sarah M/Oingo Boingo/Monkees/Neil Finn in the 5 CD changer in the house that is set on "random."

Who does your immediate family consist of? In the house? My husband, 3 cats, 1 crazy beagle hound.

What do you do for a living? I'm in Human Resources. Currently working a temp job at a local steel mill as the benefits rep.

What, besides anything relating to the hobby, do you like to do in your spare time? When do I have spare time? Photography. Art fairs. Take the dog to the park for walks. I don't know, don't have a lot of spare time anymore.

What's your favorite season, and why? Fall. It's just great all around. It's cooler. The colors change. It's always been the best time for riding, even though I'm not riding now.

Hmmm.. tough to give a # here.. Got my first Breyer when I was 6 (PAS). Before that had the Barbie horses ... Really didn't know there was a 'hobby' until I was in 6th grade and a friend had a JAH mag (they were 4" by 4"). After that everything went pretty fast.. got the Model Horse Gazzette.. CMed all my OFs (well almost). Learned to use dad's $$$ Nikon & started photo showing like a fiend. Made dad show me how to use the dremel & his (wooo stinky!) epoxies.. Made tons of props... Got to even attend a live show.. Started holding my own photo shows.. then stopped at 16 for boys.. returned a couple of years ago with a vengence.. got the resin bug!

Unpainted resins. But I tell myself that the shelves here aren't a 'collection'.. they'll all be for sale... after I paint them.. unless I miscalculate bills and have to part w/one here or there.. :upset

Since about 1983 or 4 when I stumbled across Pam Young's hobby booth at the Lansing, Michigan Stallion Exhibition. I thought I'd found Nirvana. I could not BELIEVE that this was actually a hobby - more than just saving and buying Breyer horses with my friends. She had a pile of free JAHs, and I took one and wrote to every hobbyist that had a MI address in the classifieds section - and Melissa (then) Klutchko was the only one that responded. She was 16, I was 13, and we hit it off great and have been close friends ever since. I used to go to live shows in MI - Motor City All Halter Madness, and a few other annual ones whose names are escaping me now...all in SE MI. We moved to CO in '87, and I wasn't into it so much in high school (boys, parties...) but after high school ('89) I got back into it. Moved to MD for four years, showed there some, got into CMs, and then moved back to CO. My husband was stationed in Japan for two years ('98-'00) so I was a hobby addict. Kept me from going insane. Now, I'm still addicted. Thank god the hobby isn't like, oh, say, crack or heroin!

What's the focus of your collecting?

Resins. Was trying to get into the minis again, but had to sell almost all of them.

Mostly live; I try to photo show but haven't been regular enough at it.

What's your favorite aspect of showing?

Getting some "alone" time without the kids. It's fun when my husband comes, too. I love seeing friends and just hanging out and guilt-free focusing on the hobby for a whole day. I love to drool over other people's horses, too.

Cats. Especially the feline love of my life, my Maine Coon Bullwinkle.

I'm a legal secretary/office manager/girl friday for a one-man lawfirm. We have office space in a suite with four other attorneys, and it's a GREAT place to work.

I *have* no spare time. If we had the money/time, I'd like to get back into autocross racing my car with the SCCA. On my lunch hours, I hike or go to the pool. That's about it. I love to read, but never have time. I'm over-obligated and under-timed.

Fall. I love the crisp, cool weather, the shade of blue the sky unfailingly is, and the haunted houses. I love Halloween, Thanksgiving, hay rides, etc.

What, besides anything relating to the hobby, do you like to do in your spare time? I watch a lot of movies, spend too much time on this site :lol I'd have a lot more hobbies if I had more spare money.

What's your favorite season, and why? They all have their good points. I like spring because by the time it comes around, I'm completely over winter, and everything is turning all green & starts fresh. I like summer because there is so much more I can do outside (like waterskiing etc), the longer days. Then just when I've had enough heat and humidity for one year, along comes fall, things cool off, leaves turn pretty colors, everything turns all nice and crispy, Halloween happens, my allergies give me a break. And winter - I'm a freak who actually likes the cold. It's time for hockey again, and other wintery things to do, snow falls and to me, come spring again, when the snow melts, it seems as though the snow has given everything a good cleaning.

I spend all my non-work time studying and working on the occasional model horse! On weekends I try to get out and ride, but that's rare because it depends on having NO homework that weekend. :'(

Have you ever tried a gaited horse? I think it's worth looking into. I've heard that Paso's are the best for people with bad backs. I'm sure there are far smoother carts than the Meadowbrook I rode in (through wooded trails behind a green 2yo - :shocked ) but I'll tell ya, I'd take any of the gaited horses I've riden over a cart like that again...

When I had just my bay gelding I used purple for my color. I was ready to change colors right about the time I got my cremello mare... and I just thought powder blue would look so nice with her lovely blue eyes. Then I threw in the navy so help her look not so washed out. And happily it looks wonderful on the bay horse too! :grin

Since 2000 when I got a computer and discovered the hobby and Ebay!!! 2000 was also the last time I saw any of my money NOT spent on model horses! :shocked

RESINS!!!! Drafters, warmbloods, throughbreds, and a couple arabians that have snuck in. I focus on Brigitte Eberl stuff tho I have a sack of Kitty Cantrell horses too... I love how huge they are! I also love Donna Chaney's work and am slowly buying those too. :hubba

I haven't photo shown since I sold my OFs because my new digital camera sucks and takes crapola pics! I do live show maybe once or twice a year in the flesh in Michigan and also proxy to whatever Canadian live shows I can find. :yes

What's your favorite aspect of showing?
Seriously, meeting people that are as equally "horse mad" and looking at resins/paint jobs I may be interested in. For me seeing things in person rather than in pictures helps me make up my mind about what resins I may like and what artists I want to try. I'm not in it for the NAN cards and rosettes and whatnot because my horses rarely do well enough to even get a NAN card! :lol

Well I'm supposed to be a civil engineering technologist but I got laid off in February from my cushy and well paying job. I started a new job supposedly as a concrete and materials testing technician two months ago where basically I get paid minimum wage to do construction work (ack!!!) and sweep floors. I'm sending resumes out constantly to get out of that place. I am also taking Equine Science part time at university and when I finish that (hopefully December 2005) I am highly interested in doing equine consulting!!! Ya know, like engineering barns and such right for horses! :yes

Well I was riding until I lost my job! Now I mostly do gentler things like reading and play my GameCube (only non-violent games!) that aren't expensive to do! I also play drums and bagpipes... toot toot! :lol I rarely watch TV but when I do I watch British shows. North American TV does not do it for me! I'm possibly the only person that's never seen Survivor! :lol

Warmbloods, TBs & other Sport Horse types, with a special emphasis on my fav WB, the Trakehner. Have mostly OFs & few resins & chinas. Lately the minis seem to be staging a coup -- the #s of SM size models on my shelves has grown exponentially.

Well, I live show when I can afford it, which is not much this year. Really must get back into photo showing!
