Hello everyone! The very first show I ever attended was the super fun, but sadly short lived, First State Classic. I would absolutely love to bring a really good live show back to the area! Delaware is a central location for a lot of areas, PA, MD, NJ, VA, etc. etc. I need to find out if this is something folks would be interested in, and if so if they would want a one or two day show. It would most certainly be a NAN Q show (pending approval). Let me know your thoughts please! Oh yes, please only answer the poll if you are a reasonable distance from DE, I don't expact you to come if you are from CA! :)

I would love to see another show come to DE. I used to enjoy going down there for First State and would definitely come down for another one. And although I voted for a 1 day show...I'd come for a two day as well. :)

Because I am leaning towards Performance and halter, I am leaning towards a two day show, but I think I would break it down to halter one day and perf the second day so that folks who would want to do only one or the other can make a one day show of it. This would probably not happen until next year, as I want to plan it out right!

If you use this format, I would do everything in my power to come! It would depend upon what time of year it was held also, of course. But I would make a real effort to get there!

And I know a number of other New England showers who would be game for it as well! Keep us informed of what might be planned.

I would like to offer a little warning about hotels, though...Hotels are risky, because if a better deal comes their way (in the shape of a corporate conference or a big wedding) they tend to "lose" your reservation. This has happened to NESE way back when (we made due with a very difficult alternative space because they "double booked" our ballroom) and it has happened to any number of other showholders I have talked to over the years. If you do use a venue like this, make sure you get a cast-iron contract! We like using our men's club hall, although it is not even slightly glitzy, it is reliable and cheap.

I voted for one day anywhere.... but if 2 dayin a hotel

It seems alot harder to fit in a 2 day show than a 1 day though.

Since I don't show performance, your idea suits me just fine---then I could come for halter---which is what I show---and for one day---which is also better for my work schedule.

Oh and here is another tip on the performance and halter two-day format. Have halter on Sunday because you will _always_ be able to sell-out an all-halter show. If you have performance on Saturday a certain percentage of people will come to BOTH shows-- performance showers will most often show halter, but halter showers rarely will stay for performance.

NESE gets around 40 entrants for performance on Saturday and always sells out for halter on Sunday. If we did it the other way around, I think we would have a much smaller turnout on performance day.

I would definitely consider a show in Deleware. I've driven from NH to Chincoteague (going through Deleware in the process), so a show in Deleware would be closer. Brownie points for if it's near one of the Krispy Kreme locations. :grin I like the halter one day, performance the other day format.

I am SURE I will need help! LOL! I will have to find out what time of year to do it, I am leaning towards spring or fall, since summer is always so packed with shows all ready. I was thinking early March or October/November. I'll have to do another poll and see what everyone thinks for months to hold it on.

March would be good as long as it is not too close to MAR. NESE is always the end of April and I know a lot of people up here who would love to have an earlier show!

October/November gets more tricky. I am trying to figure out how my potential minis offereing would fit in there-- there is the NEPC show and potentially the Region X Regionals to think of in relation to that time of year.

What we really need is something in August for the years when NAN is held in a location other than KY, I think...But it is TOO blame hot that time of year so I tend to escape to the seaside with the kids and don't do much otherwise.

I'm all for March as well. That would make me most likely to go! I hate waiting until the end of April for a show. It's understandable with our crazy weather, but it makes for a looooong winter. I am having serious show withdrawels at the moment, and there's still almost 3 months to go!

I've been getting lots of positive feedback here! I have spoken with my firend Nicole whose boss owns a hotel in Rehoboth Beach. They are putting in a huge banquet hall/ballroom this spring, so by March 2006, it will be usable. It is located right on Route 1, which is our state's main highway, VERY easy to find. Rehoboth is a really neat area for anyone who has not visited there before, lots and lots and lots of shopping and lots and lots and lots of really good food, if possible I HIGHLY reccommend staying an extra day or two! After attending GLC in 2003, I think I am going to lean towards the hotel.... everyone seems so relaxed with having their horses right in their hotel room with them and just having to cart them to the hall... much easier on the unloading and unpacking, and no worries about them freezing or melting overnight in the cars. I think I will probably be offering a performance day and a hlater day so those who want to make a one day of it can, and those who want a two day can. I am leaning towards early March, chances of snow are typically gone by then, and everyone is jones-ing for a show after a long hard winter. Also, in Early March the hotels are still at the winter rates and the rooms should be well under $100 night. In the summer the hotel rates rise phenominally (it's the beach!) and can run over $300 per night. The Hotel is a maybe 5 year old Heritage Inn and also has a par 3 golf course... VERY VERY nice, and upscale. If the room rates are too high, there are a hunderd other hotels in a 4 mile radius like the Econo Lodge and Atlantic Budget Inn. I really hope to make this a really high end, exciting show with great prizes, and an overall quality experience. I am going to chat with a friend who has hostessed shows before, find out the basics, then have Nicole contact the Heritage Inn to see what two days of the ahll would run. Thanks for all the support guys, I think it will be a greta show! :cheer

Jennifer! This sounds terrific! Keep us posted! This sounds like a great addition to both our regions' show calendars!
