Is it possible to have a saleslist/collection sale forum? Some where that sellers can add a big list of what they have for sale. Many times I have items that just don't fit in the current forums.

A whole new forum wouldn't be necessary. It could always be lumped with another sales forum.

I take it you mean for a list of all different types of models. I suppose if people are looking in a particular forum, they could check a sales list forum as well. Not a bad idea. :yes :)

I would think that given Blab's current sales forums, with buyers in the habit of going to a particular forum, sellers will usually be better off to break up their lists by the type of model. Prospective buyers would probably prefer not to sift through a long mixed list if they can focus on what they are interested in.

I can see possibilities in this idea ... what do people think?

Yes. Like what they have on the MH$P. A list you could make with text and/or links to everything you have for sale instead of being limited to having to post separate threads for each item you have on sale.

You could always put your list in your user notes or visitor messages then put a post in the sales forum alerting people to it. I think you can edit user notes and visitor messages any time.

If I'm understanding Corrie correctly, what she really wants is what I'd like Blab to have, a database like the Gallery that is all about Sales (the MH$P database allows a vendor to link to a list of hyperlinks, all leading to different items ... basically a saleslist).

MH$P is the full monty on that score; I don't know that we'd ever be able to buy something as fabulous as what Carrie designed there - it's custom-made for our hobby and very powerful. Searchable by fields that make sense in sales applications.

The closest we could do on Blab would be to combine the BB and Gallery functions and make a "saleslist" subforum that would host the applicable threads. A thread in that forum would look like what I'm going to produce below.

Or you could obviously just do text with links, no small photos. The thumbnails are kind of a pain in the ass to make - you have to upload them separately and then plant them in the Blab post. :)

Or you could just post and say "see my horses for sale here (http://www.modelhorseblab.com/blabpics/showgallery.php?cat=1614&ppuser=385)" with a link to a folder in your Member Gallery with pictures of all of the horses for sale.

Better yet, I could create a "Sales" Gallery in the Gallery itself, with custom fields for price, maker, description and so forth. Status "Sold" and so forth. And then people could just make threads linking to their horses in the "Sales" Gallery. There's a way to search for just your horses in a given Gallery, and then link (http://www.modelhorseblab.com/blabpics/search.php?searchid=715) the search.

The other option is to just post one thread with a new post for each horse. That would probably get kind of confusing and annoying for viewers to parse, though.

I wasn't even thinking about anything that fancy. Just a subforum or part of one of the subforums where people could post their text and links (photos if they desired) of their sales list with more than one type of item. ie. resins, ofs, tack, dolls etc all lumped together instead of having to make 12 posts in different subforums. One for each type of item.

Well, shoot that's easy enough to do. Let's suppose we do this, tho, Corrie, don't you think you might end up being overlooked? That is, the OF buyers will go to the OF Sales forum, the CM ppl will go to CM Sales, etc. and ignore your "grouped" stuff?

That is exactly what I would do. I would ignore lists and go to the forum for what I'm interested in. I don't know that I have the attention span any longer for scanning lists. :)

Okay, guess it won't work then. It was just a suggestion.
